Straight out of the good 'ol mid-west comes this feature car, created by a dubmaniac by the name of Corey West. Infamous on several message boards for his Mistral Metallic Blue Mk4 Jolf and clean OE plush styles, we actually nail him down for a WCM feature. Corey photographed and submitted all of his own shots for us to use, also wrote his own write up....this kid does work!
Well, if you didn't know it already the name is Corey West and I was born and raised in Toledo, OH. I've been following the dub scene for
the last six years still going strong. The whole German car thing hit me in high school where I bought MY first car which was a burgundy 1976
BMW 2002. It had no heat, air conditioning, or a radio for that matter, but it was by far the coolest car around town.
I actually started looking directly towards Volkswagen as my next car and was able to sell the BMW (the model and
year being 2002 really increased the interest when selling
the car...LOL). I knew I wanted a hatchback for my next far, but I just
didn't know what car to get. At the beginning of 2003 I came across the deal of century when I found what you now know as ocdpvw's Jolf for
$8,200 with only 36XXX miles on it.
It wasn't until 2002 that
The car started off as a sort of rare color to the MK4 world in the first place. Satin Silver was what the Volkswagen introduced for the
new generation and quickly converted to what is more popularly known as Reflex Silver. Being young it took a few tries to get the car moving
the right direction. I had tons of influences along the way which persuaded me to ditch things such as "eye lids" and wheels such as
"Fliks".
I set off to build something that was OEM yet custom and have tried to keep it that way for the most part. The only things which are not OEM
on the car is a custom boser hood, wheels, and suspension. Oh! I forgot, the color isn't OEM either. It is actually known as Mistral
Metallic Blue which was taken from Jaguar. Now, I have to give much thanks to Mark Miller in Shelby, OH for doing so much work on my car!
He spent countless hours trying to make my request a reality.
