WTF?!?! You might be thinking after seeing the cover picture for June, "Why the hell is it raining in late May in California?" Trust me, I was thinking the same thing while on our little photoshoot. It turned out to be cool though, the weather kinda played with the location of the shoot. Even though I was stuck wearing a T-shirt in the chilled bay breeze, I knew that David Meachem's MK4 1.8t GLI was loving every minute of it. Freshly chipped thanks to Revo and the guys at emotionGarage in Milpitias Ca, David's GLI took much deeper and longer breath's while easing into merging traffic. Air is supplied viva David's AEM CAI. The Go Fast Bits BOV/DV releases a low but unmistakable "whoosh" between shifts, which have been shortened thanks to an OEM R32 shift linkage. Power also transfers better through shifts with the use of the WRD urethane lower transmission mounts.

David's GLI is lowered 2 inches in the nose and 1.75 inches in the rear after installing the H&R race springs. The Flik Artic wheels 18 x 8.5 in all four corners(8mm spacers in the rear) take place of the stock BBS RC's. David took his car down to Bob Lewis VW Newark to have his Neuspeed 28mm rear sway bar installed, giving the Jetta a stiffer feel when cornering due to reduced body roll.
Inside the car is nice as any stock GLI interior, but this one's got Sirius Satellite Radio and a Panasonic 7.5 inch touch screen DVD/Navigation system. David now always knows where he's at, and can always find his way to the GTG's and car shows. Other interior goodies include a euro light switch and Boost&Air fuel ratio gauges mounted on the steering column. The exterior of the car has pretty much remained stock with subtle changes like window tint and painted euro rub strip in the front bumper.

David is a super active dubber in the Norther California area. If you see him at a meet or show or wherever, say what's up. He's always down to chat about the Dub. David's GLI represents what is really driven on the streets day in day out. No show car will ever see the miles of open road this GLI smashes through. With more mods planned in the near future, his is going to be one GLI took look out for.

Insidious- "Usual question man, what got you into the dub scene"?

Meach- "Well I got into the Euro scene back in October of 2004. I had just finished building a 95 LS VTEC Civic coupe and wanted more. One day I went with my brother to pick up his Mark IV 2005 GLI and I fell in love. With the lines, the power out of the box, everything that I wanted in one package. The next day I was at the dealership trading in my truck and selling my civic to buy one. Now I can’t put gas in it with someone asking me about it. There are many mods to come so look out for MEACH in the '06. Last but not least thanks to WCM and all my new friends that I have come across in the past year or so. Thanks for the help when I needed it".
